Waldon Studio Architects [WSA] completed the design for the renovation of the Family and Consumer Sciences [FACS] Lab for Glenelg High School. Scope for this 2,700 SF project included demolition and replacement of all existing casework, flooring, plumbing, electrical, ventilation systems and all new student cooking stations and teacher prep/demonstration stations. Room design allows for hands on cooking, food preparation, child care, training and laundry, as well as a teaching and classroom zones for lectures and presentations. The new lab utilizes ceiling mounted cameras and recording system at new teacher demonstration area for students to follow along during presentations and record sessions for future teaching purposes. Durable surfaces were selected for all work spaces, custom casework was designed to accommodate a large variety of storage needs. New shelving was also installed for the reference library.
