Northside Christian Church, New Youth Building located in Houston, Texas, was designed as a modern interpretation of the “Rugged West” through the use of slatted wood and colorful building forms. License plates donated by the church members were used as metal shingles on the facade as a unique way for members to participate in the building. A man-made pond was engineered to sustain a fish population and encourages family activities. Building program includes a sanctuary, children’s classrooms, administrative areas, and gathering space. Working with Visioneering Studios (design firm), Waldon Studio Architects [WSA] was the architect of record. The scope involved a multi-phased master plan of the site and building, program and budget development, design, engineering, and interior design.
